That's very insightful Julie; thanks for bringing it up. For someone who stutters covertly, or for people who stutter who just elect not to talk that much, a frequency count of disfluencies may not be a valid measure of progress. In this case, a client speaking and stuttering more would be a very positive step toward overcoming their problem; allowing themselves to stutter. This can be a huge psychological step for the PWS, and opens more doors for the SLP to help treat the speech aspects of the problem too.
