Dr. Rentschler, thank you very much for sharing this article. I had no idea covert stuttering existed until about a year ago when I learned about it in my first fluency course. It is an interesting phenomenon that is not discussed enough. I think the manner in which you addressed this topic was great because it was very to the point. I think PWSC will have a better understanding of their problem after reading your explanation. I definitely agree that PWSC do not know where they belong in the speaking world, and it would be difficult not knowing who to identify with. I believe PWSC many times experience greater stress than overt stutterers because living with a secret creates such stress. Do you feel that covert or overt stutterers are more generally more receptive to treatment? How often do you see PWSC in therapy?
