Dr. Rentschler, I was curious to know that once the inner symptoms of the person who stutters covertly are dealt with and that person no longer has a struggle dealing with those feelings of fear, shame, guilt, isolation, etc. towards their stuttering does the outward symptoms of stuttering (prolongations, blocks, and repetitions) tend to emerge since they no longer have the need to hide it and they are accepting of those behaviors? Also, if this is the case do you find that people are more likely to want to reduce/eliminate those behaviors or are they now just comfortable with the way they speak even if it entails the outward symptoms because their main issue of fear is gone?
