As a current graduate student in Speech and Language Pathology, I found this post very helpful and supplemental to the information we have been learning in our class on fluency. I found your image on the “Isolation of Covert Stuttering” to be very enlightening, and useful for understanding the additional emotional struggles people who stutter covertly may face. As you pointed out, covert stutterers may not feel as if they belong to either the fluent or the stuttering ‘world.’ It is understandable that this uncertainty could add to their feelings of isolation. It was also interesting to learn about the different treatment paradigms between people who stutter and people who stutter covertly. Your information was very interesting and gave me a better perspective on covert stuttering. Thank you for sharing.
