Such an engaging topic. Is there any research that draws on the "coming out" process engaged by the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) community. It seems that a cornerstone of the covert-to-overt process would include things like self-acceptance and building a support system....things that have been at the foundation of coming out for a very long time. It would be very interesting if the field of communication sciences and disorders could draw from other disciplines and schools of thought that are dealing with this problem in their own ways.
