The assessment entails the clients descriptions of what s/he does and doesn't do because of their stuttering. This includes situations which result in the greatest fears of stuttering, particular words/sounds that are feared, an itemization of avoidance behaviors, and other information regarding their beliefs and the way they think about their stuttering. In essence, a description of the handicapping effects of the problem.
