Hello Dr. Smits-Bandstra. As a graduate clinician, I am still honing my skills and your paper was very informative. Specifically, the information you provide regarding feedback and its impact on motor-learning was extremely interesting. As a beginning clinician, it is easy to provide TOO much verbal feedback during therapy sessions. However, as I have gained more experience and as your article confirms, feedback should be well thought out. One must consider what stage of learning our client is in (e.g. early, late), the various types of feedback, the schedule of feedback, and the type of learner our client is. I am eager to see how research develops in this area, especially in regards to motor-learning in individuals with various speech disorders.
