Feedback is a tricky thing because most people do not have feedback when they are talking in real life situations. While feedback appears to be helpful in getting Parkinson's patients to improve performance, they won't have this feedback outside of the clinic. Similarly PWS speech much more smoothly when they have external cues to do so. SO... while we can provide lots of feedback in the clinic, this is not necessarily going to help them whatsoever in their real life. What seems important in therapy for both PWS and Parkinsonism is more conscious attention to feedback that is available such as auditory and proprioception. For example in Lee Silverman, PPD are encouraged to "Think Loud" or Think BIG" and ignore their initial perceptions of themselves as shouting. Perhaps something similar such as "Think Smooth" would help PWS. Also, I encourage many PWS to explore speakeasy. This is a simple feedback system that CAN be used in real life situations.
