David, this was a really superb article! I love how you regard fluency control therapy in a larger context, as one component and one possibility to achieve the larger goal of human communication, happiness, and life satisfaction. I think it is important to keep objectives of fluency controls within this larger context. Years ago I didn't quite see it this way, regarding fluency controls or targets, and fluent speech, as an end unto themselves. But over a period of many years and decades I have come to transform my thinking. As I see it now, increased fluency is just one possible avenue towards effective human communication, and effective human communication is one possible avenue towards life happiness and satisfaction. Life happiness and satisfaction in turn help to spread positive values of peace, harmony, and love, as well as caring for others, and help us to create a better world for all.
