I like the way you focus equally on the best possible and most likely outcomes in a person’s mind. I think we inherently catastrophize and our mind jumps to the worst imaginable outcome without regard to the whether it is rationale or not. In some of the speech therapy I’m participated in, we take the “worst possible” and then ask the question, “can I be ok with that if it happens”. Some of those “worsts” are possible, albeit unlikely, I can lose my job, and can flunk out of school, and I have to be willing to risk that if it’s really in my mind as a possibility. Adding on the “best possible” and “most likely” completes the picture of a rational reality, and I find that empowering and encouraging. Thanks for the nugget. ~Reuben
