This has been consistent in a couple of surveys. Verbatim comments indicate that in many cases the child attends private school where no speech therapy is available. Some children were denied therapy because their stuttering was not severe enough or did not affect schoolwork. Many more parents commented that they withdrew their children from school-based therapy because the SLPs were inexperienced in stuttering treatment.
