Denial of services for children who stutter is not new and has been consistent in a couple of surveys. In some cases the child is in a private school that does not offer speech therapy, in others the school either did not think stuttering interfered with the child's schoolwork or did not know what to do with a child who stutters. And some of the verbatim comments on this survey indicated the parent had pulled the child out of school-based speech therapy and used a private SLP instead. Support group are useful for both parents and teens: The NSA has used them for years.
