Elizabeth, I am not sure that the parents are doing anything wrong, they just underestimate the emotional issues that may be going on in their teen's lives. It is easy to see and observe bullying (relatively), and it is something that is external and not their kid's fault. We all believe that our kids are the best. they are big and strong and smart and talented and......etc. If they are having difficulty, it is because other kids are bullying them, or teh teachers are poor teachers, etc. Parents need to understand that their kids may need some help emotionally, and it's OK if they do. Our job is to educate both parents and teens about what potential needs may be and where support can be found. I don't think we all do this as well as we think! Thanks for the question/comments.
