Alex, I really like your question and comments. The data clearly shows that our best shot at people who stutter is to get to them early. With the epidemiologic data from Yairi and colleagues, the treatment data from Onslow and colleagues, and the assessment/treatment data from people like Yaruss, Quesal, Langevin and others, there is not an excuse for why we delat treatment or provide poor treatment fro young children who stutter. I continue to see teens that have been treated by ineffective clinicians still using Johnsonian principles when talking to parents. I suggest remembering what you learned in graduate school from an instructor who really understands stuttering. The data base of knowledge is growing exponentially and it is our etheical job to stay current with it. That's my best answer. I really appreciate your concern and questions. Sincerely, John Tetnowski
