I was amazed to read that parents are least involved with their child's stuttering during his or her teenage years. This is when a child may need the support of their family the most. The teenage years are going to be when the child is teased often by peers. The child needs the support and acceptance of the family a lot at this point. The emotions related with stuttering need to be addressed in therapy along with the other aspects. Parental involvement in stuttering should be consistent from the onset throughout their child's life. Parents need to keep up with how their child is feeling and help him handle the effects of stuttering.
