I was very interested in this topic because being an undergraduate I've wondered about teens who stutter and just how much it really effects their lives. While taking a fluency disorders course we have learned quite a bit about stuttering and are often reminded that parents of the teens who stutter sometimes share a different opinion on just how much stuttering really effects the teens life. While reading the comparison between the parents and teens I was surprised at how much of a difference there actually was between the two. I was also surprised at how much higher the percentage was of parents who think that their child is being bullied and who feel embarrassed about stuttering. I truly would have thought that it would be the other way around. In conclusion, I wanted to know if it's quite common for parents to assume things to a greater extent than the actual teen?
