Erik, I've just begun reading the ISAD postings this year and am working from the end of the list to the beginning. If all the comments from those who stutter are as good as the first two I've read I'm going to make them required reading for my class. While improving fluency/decreasing stuttering (especially the form of the stuttering - lots of avoidance, effort and struggle) is an obvious part of treatment - as you've discoveredon your own, improving one's ability to communicate is even more important. You have already begun altering something that I suspect is even more basic - developing an agentic lifestyle whereby you are doing what you need to do for yourself, in order to expand and improve the quality of your life. You are now allowing yourself to become who and what you can be. Congratulations on your insight and your courage.
