Wow, Vince. I don't think that is a strategy an SLP would recommend;-) It will be interesting to hear if other PWS have used any similar strategy. I have heard of using a clothespin on the ear lobe to divert attention from physical pain, and I have actually used physical pain as a diversion from psychological pain. My father died when I was 15. I developed a strategy to keep me from crying in situations where I didn't want to cry. I dug my fingernails into my palms. No blood, but the pain was definitely a diversion.
