Vince, You may be interested to view the keynote address of Alan Rabinowitz, internationally known scientist, conservationist, naturalist, and explorer – and person who stutters. He recalled being a child and putting a lead pencil through his hand in order to avoid reading aloud in class; he was rushed to the hospital just prior to his turn to read. The pain from anticipated humiliation of stuttering, he recalled, was far greater than that received from any bodily injury. The keynote is DVD No. 8500 from the Stuttering Foundation of America.
