HI Lisette! I was so pleased to see your article and really enjoyed reading it. You had told me some of your story and how stuttering was always more difficult for you than your blindness, but I appreciated hearing the full story. My experience with my parents for my stuttering is very similar to how your parents treated your blindness - with openness and acceptance and teaching you that it's OK to have a vision disability. My parents got me into speech therapy early and didn't make a big deal of it - so I think that's what really made the difference for me. I still had shame but not as much as some of our fellow PWS do. I think it's awesome that your dad taught you to ride a bike! Do you still ride? Thanks for the article!
