Hi Carla, Thanks so much for your thoughtful response. Yes I think when I feel more comfortable with my speech, other people seem so also. I do still find that when I am in real hiding mode, nobody notices and they aren't even thinking about my speech (I'm not stuttering at all), but I'm working hard to suppress the stuttering. I'm still learning a lot. I agree that parents need to talk about their child's stuttering in an accepting, healthy, matter-of-fact way. That would prevent a lot of the shame.
