I am a speech-language pathology graduate student. I found your paper to be thought-provoking and inspiring. After reading about your experiences with internet discussion groups and their positive impact on your life a question came to mind. Do you feel that, for people who stutter, joining internet discussion groups and support groups would be more successful than speech therapy with a clinician in helping them to accept their stuttering and gain positive feelings towards it and themselves?
