I am glad that you have found solace and solidarity from online discussion groups. It is so great that we can live in an age where people from all over the world can come together through commonalities. Currently, I am a graduate student studying speech-language pathology. A few months ago I started getting experience clinical experience with clients, including with people who stutter. My mentor promotes the same ideas that you do, that "accentuating the positive" and discussing the client's successful instances are a very powerful tools for people who stutter. I am an eternal optimist and that line of thinking seeps into the therapy session. It is good that online discussion forums exist because I can imagine that realistically, it could be difficult to find a small group for people who stutter that that physically meets in your specific geographic area. Do you have personal experience participating in a small group in person? At my university, we are forming a group for teenage males who stutter. Hopefully it will be a positive, resourceful experience for them. Do you have any recommendations for online discussion groups that might be geared toward young men around ages 13-16?
