Beth and Nina. Thanks for a v.good paper and discussion. Kathryn, one other thing to be aware of. Many people who stutter have avoided communication. This means they have not learned or practiced communication skills. So our body language may not match our verbal language. Which is very confusing to listeners. A prime example is if we are stopped by the Police, and are questioned. If we speak softly, hesitantly, look away, hide our mouths and appear to be very tense, the questioner could easily think they are dealing with a criminal. One of the awareness issues is to inform police about our disability. Another is to question the use of software used to detect lies when telephoning certain organizations who need truthful answers. Thanks once more for this discussion, Enjoy life, Keith
