Hi Beth & Nina; Your article provided valuable information in a readable format. I always say that stuttering is the disability that is not seen initially until one opens one's mouth. Scott Yaruss provides the framework for stuttering as a disability based on the World Health Organization's International Classificiation of Functioning, disability & Health (2001), that is the etiology of stuttering can be seen as an impairment in body function which impacts & is impacted by personal factors (affect, behavior, cognition), environmental factors (situations, experiences), and activity limitation (participation, restriction). Do you feel that the disability connotation would limit some people who stutter from participation? Do you feel that professors, employers etc. would have inappropriate responses to PWS with disclosure or not? Most of the adults with whom I work are comfortable with disclosure, but I have met others who don't want anyone to know that they stutter. Thanks again for this information. Elise
