You raise some interesting points, and I know how hard it is for people who don't like labels. My take on it is that we all have many different identities, such as "teacher" "lawyer" "sister" "father" "homemaker" "athlete" "singer" "African American" "Christian", etc., and this is just one of many. I think embracing every part of ourselves, positive or negative, can go a long way toward accepting ourselves.
