Your experience with the police definitely did sound scary! I'm sure this has been the case for others. I worked with a young guy who had a traumatic brain injury that made him walk and speak slowly, so he looked like he was a bit drunk, and was once arrested for being drunk in public, even though he had only had 1 beer. This happens to people with cerebral palsy as well. So this is why education and awareness is SO important. But I disagree with your definition of disability being something that cannot be cured. There are probably some that can, and some that can be lessened by adaptive technology (like hearing aids). But even with a hearing aid, the person still has a disability because once the aid is out, they still have hearing loss. And the cures for stuttering can really vary, and for many people, the cures don't really work. I can't answer your question about whether your claim of an improper search of your car, as I'm not a lawyer. Perhaps there is someone else with more legal experience who can answer?
