Hello ladies, Thank you for your informing and lively discussion. I used to work in Special Education and found you discussion particularly interesting. I have two questions. First, in the opening, the following is stated: "...the society in which we live today is much more welcoming and accomodating than it was in years past." While this is true, I think we can agree we still have a long way to go, especially towards a better understanding of stuttering and PWS. Why do you think there continues to be such a misunderstanding about stuttering and PWS? Secondly, towards the end of the discussion, Nina states " There is so much shame associated with stuttering..." Nina, you seem to have come to terms with and are proud of being a PWS.Still, you choose this word (shame). Have you felt shame about your stuttering in the past? Why and/or how do you think shame correlates with stuttering? It seems this word is prevalent in the discussions of stuttering.
