I think it is a good message to young people about the importance of speaking up and communicating to their teachers and professors that they stutter. I feel that some young people may be shy or their pride may get in the way to keep them from speaking up to those who can ultimately help them. I also agree that it is important to talk about stuttering in front of their peers at school. Firstly, it can be a homework assignment from speech therapy to practice communication under pressure. Secondly, educating their peers shows confidence and may prevent bullying. I am studying to be a speech-language pathologist and one of my first clients is a young person who stutters. Do you have any additional suggestions for ways to promote confidence while speaking publicly that have worked well for you?
