Hi, I am studying to be an SLP, and there is a lot of literature about the social and emotional ramifications of stuttering. Reading your post I was wondering- When you were talking about the joke you tell about stuttering not being a real disability, I was wondering how widespread have you found that attitude to be, and is it something you also come up against from those with more obvious or understood disabilities? Also, how do you deal with helping people to understand the nature of stuttering who still hold to the idea that stuttering is learned, or you just "need to try harder?" Thank you!
