I like to be in the same group as Oscar P as well, though I doubt I'll ever run as fast! ;-) You are right that the stigma has been associated with disability for centuries, and that it's only been in the last half decade that the situation has started to shift (it really started with returning disabled WWII vets - see the film "Lives Worth Living"). But quite a bit has indeed changed for PWD - several significant laws have been implemented that helped level the playing field and ensured equal access (or at least required it), PWD are getting more positive portrayals in the media, and they are making significant gains in athletics and other arenas. And at the same time, the issue of stuttering is also starting to get positive attention - look at all of the media attention surrounding The King's Speech. We all have a long way to go, but we're getting there. And we might as well hitch our wagon to the disability rights movement now because I only see things getting better!
