Hi Jeff! And thanks for chiming in. I agree with your point that it's others' attitudes that create the disability - that applies to PWS as well as PWD. And in the disability community, they like to say that it's the environment that causes the disability in many cases. If a person in a wheelchair goes into a building is completely accessibility, the disability is no longer a disability - they can access things just as anyone else. Many deaf people don't see deafness as a disability - especially if they interact with mostly deaf people. (Whenever I visit Gallaudet University I feel like I'm the one with a disability, since I can't speak their language!). So what would that be for us PWS? I guess it would be a world where people understood what stuttering is and listened patiently. Where we could speak in front of a group, on the phone, or to a boss without feeling sick and anxious. I think we have a long way to go to get there!!!
