Hi Jenifer. Thanks for your kind words. I didn't choose to start writing. Writing is, like many other things, within you. But just like my stutter, I didn't let my writing out until years later. Writing, music, art, theater etc is all so important to get your emotions out. I wrote lots of poems for different occasions, but the stuttering ones will turn into a book one day. :-) Because it was taboo to talk about stuttering at home, not to mention the severe bullying at school, I kept my silence. It wasn't until I wrote the poem I refer to in my paper, turning 40, that my parents finally understood what I had been hiding for so long. That broke the ice. Now they are my greatest fans. :-) Of course this was an important moment for me, as parents and family are of major importance to a person. They should love you regardless. And because they are old, I'm so happy we got passed this, so that I won't carry this with me when their time is out. Other activities I love to do is to play the saxophone. :-) Also that as a way of expressing myself, being in a group of people who couldn't care less about my speech. Music kept me sane during the black years. And yes, my confidence is on top. Search for my name on the internet and you'll see where I am today. :-) Hope to meet you at the world congress for people who stutter in the Netherlands next year! Keep talking!
