Hi Carmen, I remember my 2 sons probably as young as 8 or 9 saying to me "Dad I used to talk like you" without a care in the world. I can really feel what you must be thinking and going through. SLP's want to help but they only read the same books as you or I. The home is the right place to use gentle therapy. TV is a great way. You and your son watch plenty of DVD's or a Childrens programs telling a story. You ask questions and you will find there in no interruptions in his speech. Playing with something your child likes doings is more tricky as he may get excited easier. Reading is great, you can ask questions on the pictures and give lots of praise. What is happening is he will not be thinking about speech, whatever damage you may thing has been done is reversed in no time. Plenty Mom or Dad and Son TV and reading lots of questions with short answers from your son is far more than any SLP can give a young child. Best wishes Richard
