Elizabeth, Obviously I cannot answer for Maartje, but I have been asked this many times. My answer is that if I had not stuttered I would have lived a completely different life. I have no idea if that life would be happier, better than my current life. I know that until my wife died of cancer I had a very happy marriage. I know I have two married children and 4 grandchildren. Once I pledged to 'avoid avoiding' in 2006 my life took a different path. My comfort zone walls and roof have gone. I will undertake any task within my physical capabilities. My life now is so rewarding. Life without a stutter would be different in an unknown way. Take care,Keith
