O wow, good question Victoria, I can only speak from my own experience. Most important for me was: stuttering is something I do, not what I am. There are therapies out there who see stuttering as this big evil that needs to be terminated, but with adults, it sticks more often than it disappears. Let people know it's ok if you still stutter during or after therapy, it can happen, it's not the end of the world. It's a very difficult problem and it takes time to overcome it, or deal with it, or live with it. It's not evil, it just is, just like any other speechdisorder or handicap. Make the best of it, fight for being the best you can be, but don't hate yourself if you don't succeed every minute of every day.
