Hi Renee, Thank you for the question. When I was in my twenties, with the help of some special colleague friends, I started to use some voluntary stuttering. I will never forget the first time I had the courage to do so when I said my name. It was very freeing. It took me a long time to have the courage to not avoid stuttering. I also had counseling which helped me tremendously. The more I talked about my stuttering with others, the easier it became. One "aha" moment came early in my career when I watched a videotape of a child who told his mother in his loudest voice "It is not my fault that I stutter." This little video clip took my breath away. I had no idea how ashamed I was of my stuttering.
