Hi Brian, So great to hear from you. One of the things I try and tell parents is that it is important to talk to their child about his/her feelings about having to give presentations or speak orally in front of the class. If the child is afraid, it is helpful to meet with the teacher, talk about the situation, and create a step by step plan to assist the child in being able to participate and have positive fluency experiences. My message to parents is that if they continue to "call their child out" of those assignments, or speak "for them" in restaurants, etc., they may be giving their child the message that he/she is "not capable of speaking" on his/her own. I recall telling one of the mother's of a camper "If you let your son speak for himself, you are giving him the message he is capable of having and using his own voice." All the Best, Kristin
