I am a little confused on the whole issue of covert stuttering. I thought that I understood that you either do or you don't stutter. I find myself having moments of dysfluency - most often when wanting to say something important. I (unofficially) have word finding problems as well - so as a compensatory strategy I usually will write some key words down before I speak in class. Because my learning includes explaining back what I have understood, this can happen frequently. As an SLP Graduate student - my question is - since we all have word finding problems sometimes, and we all have dysfluency sometimes - when does sometimes become covert? I know they are all different, but what does a PWSC "look" like?
