I too was unaware of a convert stuttering, and you have brought up some very interesting points. Yes, if the child is able to cover up the fact they are a stutter, how are we able to determine whether or not they require speech therapy services. Also I feel that it is important for a child to understand what stuttering is all about and to talk to them about how they feel about their stuttering so they will not be ashamed of it which will make them more acceptive to therapy.
