Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I think getting to the point of being able to come out is a process that needs to be acknowledged. This process can be worked through in the therapy sessions. There will be counselling involved. It seems you may be suggesting that delving in a working on typical stuttering behavioural elements is key to working with a PWS, this is not the case with a person who is covert. You will be working a different path and getting into the cognitive and emotional elements of what stuttering is for that person. You may find that increasing audible moments of stuttering is MAJOR success for that person. Effective therapy tends to be client centered, find out what success would be for them.
