Hi Stephanie, what you are doing is amazing! There is power in knowing you are not alone, especially for teens! The community can step up, for starters, by educating themselves. This may start with interviews on your local public radio station, advertisements for the support group in your local or campus paper, articles in your local/campus paper on what stuttering is and what is going on in the community (for example an article on the teen support group!). This is not only marketing the clinical services, but it is also advertising the reality that PWS need support. Lastly, you can take the role of creating a presentation with your supervisor or client and present this to a local school’s faculty for their professional development. The NSA, Friends, and Stuttering foundation’s websites have great ideas in this realm. The possibilities are endless!! Let me know what you wind up doing! Kind regards, Jill j.douglass@massey.ac.nz
