Hi Elizabeth, thanks for the comment. One major difference is that a PWSC may rarely say what they want to say, when they want to say it for fear/panic/anxiety that a moment of stuttering may happen. PWS overtly may find they say what they want to say, regardless if they stutter (this is basic terms, since PWS may have some covert strategies such as word switching when they deem necessary). A PWS who is using fluency shaping strategies is increasing their fluency on words that they want to say and use to be a communicator. PWSC emphasize the need for fluency over communication. The typical response of a moment of stuttering for a PWSC is disproportionate to the stutter. I hope this clarifies the differentiation. Kind regards, Jill j.douglass@massey.ac.nz
