J-J-Judith, I know so well that when I told myself in 2006 I will avoid avoiding it changed my life. You are so right. Also I rang all my relatives to talk about this change I intended to make and explained some of the issues I had lived with. I had never talked about this before. It felt so good and began the desensitization process. I do not raise my stutter with them now other than to say when I am going to a special conference etc. They feel comfortable to talk to me about my stutter, saying they had not done so before as they assumed my silence meant it should not be talked about! All of the rest of your paper is about the best holistic approach in the West, and until the beginning of last month I also thought this was the way ahead. I went to Moscow last month to the Arlilia Stuttering Correction Center. I spent 4 .5 days with them joining in their courses / treatments for all age groups. They gave out a book (first draft in English) at the IFA Conference in Tours in July. It is called 'I stutter no more'. Their objectives are 'A life without stuttering'. Over the next months I will be talking more about what I saw / heard, because I would like SLPs/SLTs in the West to look at what is happening in this center in Moscow and two centers in Poland, with a view, as with Lidcombe, to using their methodologies over here. (N.B. their full treatment can take up to 320 hours over a period of time. As a PWS, I assess it to be more holistic than over here.) J-J-Judith, I enjoyed your article, keep them coming. Keith
