Hi Kayla, Thank you for contacting me. Often parents just want "fluency" for their child. That is when you need to educate them and get them involved with other parents of children who stutter in a group like NSA's Family Program. Basically, telling them that the more a child tries to hide their stuttering, the more they will stutter is often a good way to start. Then I usually proceed to tell parents that it's not their fault that their child stutters----it's just something that happens. Using the "Stuttering Survey" is often a good way to get the child and parents to talk about stuttering.
