I greatly enjoyed reading your presentation, espeically how you stated right in the beginning that "there is no measure of what the stutterer feels". Practicing and succeeding in the therapy room is one thing, but when the fears and avoidances creep into life at home or at school, I can see where it would be discouraging to a person who stutters. At any rate, doesn't all of that practicing become EXHAUSTING? Therefore, I love how you stressed the importance of acceptance and reducing shame. "Laugh at yourself. Put stuttering on your voice mail." Your presentation made it very easy to see that acceptance and working on the part of the iceberg that is underwater is of high importance, and to "avoid avoiding" so that a person can just relax and enjoy life. Thank you!
