Hi Judith, Thank you for yet another excellent paper in which you stress (inter alia) the importance of not avoiding. I totally agree. Avoidance crept insidiously into (and influenced) my life for so many years. I was blissfully unaware of the extent of the wide-ranging strategies that I employed. When someone kindly explained the immense implications of avoidance (on May 4, 2000), I immediately made a pact with myself that I would adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards all kinds of avoidance. This meant closely monitoring my thoughts and behaviours. I have been true to myself ever since. Not once (in more than 12 years) have I succumbed to temptation. Not one word, one letter, one sound or one situation. The benefits have been truly astounding. Thank you, once again, for sharing – I always enjoy what you write. Your clients and support group members are particularly fortunate to have your guidance. Kindest regards Alan
