Bri, I'm glad you enjoyed the talk. I really enjoyed listening to everyone else on the panel at ASHA. It is interesting so many PWS seem to get motivated during their college years. For me it was a little later. Some suggest that we can no longer wait since the fear of getting a job or having a family is upon them. I assume this is part of it. But I think that at this stage in one's life, one discovers that they are the agent of change in their life. They are now making more and more decisions about their life and are the agent of change in many aspects. So... They begin to believe that they can also effect change in their speech. Once one believes they can change, half the battle is won. As for the micro/molecular Biology... Once I was accepted in a Masters program in Comm Disorders there wasn't much use for it :) BTW. Sorry it took so long to respond. I took a little holiday with my wife and totally forgot about ISAD :)
