Thank you for this great advice. As a graduate student in the field, I feel that it is easy to fall into the trap of trying to follow a certain “tract” in therapy. Typically this “tract” involves interactions between the clinician and the client and occurs in a therapy room, rarely venturing beyond the confines of the clinic area. Thinking about therapy from the viewpoint of a group setting is a wonderful idea in my opinion, as long as the people involved are ready and comfortable with the idea. It creates an environment that is more realistic to real life and establishes a safe group of communicators. I think that I could apply this concept to many different disorder types since a large part of communication is the social aspect of it.
