I have a family friend whose grandson stutters. The little boy says that he knows when he is about to stutter. He feels the tension building up. It is so funny because just the other day my friend was talking about getting his grandson involved in golfing. He felt that playing golf might help his grandson relieve some tension that may be contributing to his stuttering. My husband has been a golfer for several years and he has noted that it relieves tension, stress, etc. I actually had never thought about the analogy of stuttering and golf before but I will definitely bring this information back to my students. Maybe it will help some of them who stutter.
